“Friends” is the debut single from Jazara, an 18-year-old Santa Barbara native singer who now lives in Norway. This summer, she joined the “Summer of Love” internship program created by Girls Rock Santa Barbara to release a song under their record label, Syryn Records, and this is the single she wrote.
“Friends” is a powerful song with influences from the likes of pop icons Shawn Mendes and Julia Michaels. With soaring, soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics, Jazara pulls you into a song about yearning and the pain of wanting a relationship you know you can’t have.
“The idea for ‘Friends’ came from my friend’s personal experience. She fell in love with her best friend. She doesn’t want to tell him she wants more than just a friendship because she doesn’t want to ruin the amazing relationship that they have already. It’s that uncertainty that she has, and with that concept in mind I was able to create the song ‘Friends,’” Jazara explains.
