“BACK IN THE SKY”

Sixteen-year-old artist mika16 announces her debut single “Back in the Sky.” Released with Syryn Records on July 31, the track will be available on SoundCloud and Bandcamp, and later Spotify.

With four minutes of the soft strumming of an electric guitar, “Back in the Sky” provides a calming sense of peace. This beautiful lo-fi song offers dreamy vocals made to sound distant through the use of reverb. The almost grungy strum of the guitar and the reverbed vocals meld perfectly to create a shoegaze harmony of tranquility.

“My inspiration comes from literally everywhere, but this song mainly just expresses how I often feel in the world but not part of it.”

Temecula, California-based mika16, whose name is Joelle Perry, recorded and mixed “Back in the Sky” herself. Her musical influences include Alex G, Bulldog Eyes, Cocteau Twins, and Fiona Apple.
